Our Vintage Stove Could Be Yours!
We’ve started the kitchen remodel and need to sell our beloved stove: A 1950s era electric Hotpoint range. It’s in great working condition, but isn’t large enough for my booming cake baking aspirations.
The right side door is the oven, and the others 3 panels are storage drawers that have a bit of wear in the bottom. The clock buzzes a bit and I’ve never tried to set it to see how accurate it keeps time, but the timer for the oven definitely works. The baking temperature is consistent and accurate (bakes my cakes very nicely!). The burners are controlled by various push buttons from low to high heat. They light up in different colors from blue to red. The Hotpoint logo also lights up green when the oven temperature has been reached. It’s very snazzy.
It also comes with a built-in boiler pot, that recesses into one of the larger burners. I believe there is also a broiler pan built into the bottom drawer, but I’ve never used it. The main oven and the burner covers need a good scrub. With no running water outside the bathroom, I’ve not been in the mood to deep clean it.
I’m not sure exactly how much it is worth probably in the $200-$300 range, but all reasonable offers considered. You must pick it up (we’ll help you load) or arrange for shipment. I’ll be listing on Craigslist if no one shows interest here.
We’re installing a Maytag gemini double oven with convection, not exactly historically accurate, but I’m willing to make the sacrifice.
Update: Stove was sold in February 2008 to a lovely Portlander who promised to love it in her vintage kitchen.

I’m jealous of the oven you’ll be getting. A double oven would make a world of difference when doing a lot of baking or even just making a meal with veggies and meat that need to be in at different temperatures.
By looking at your pictures, you guys have really kicked some butt and got a lot done already. How exciting! And I think I would have went with the new oven/stove too instead of keeping the old one (especially since it’s a double oven! I’m jealous!). Everything needs to be upgraded at some point, right?
