Original Paint Colors

Jul 22nd, 20094 Comments

I found this paint brochure in the attic during demo in January 2008. It was with a bunch of other ephemera dating from 1914-1923 so I believe it has been there just as long even though its not dated. Held up to our living room and dining room plaster, the rust color, number “thirty-five” is a match.

Here’s some other shots of original paint colors. We think this buttercream yellow from the back bedroom is also from one of the swatches above.

The other bedroom original color is the pink but you can get a shot of all the different colors it was painted over the years. Pastel delight!

The closets and one wall in each bedroom was wallpapered and painted over. Here’s what I uncovered.

It’s like you found the rosetta stone in your wall archaeology! I haven’t found much original interior paint at my place yet, though that old wallpaper definitely has a familiar look.

Fun discovery. Also very neat you are able to see the original paint colors. I love the combo in the room with the fireplace.

I really like the revealed wallpaper look. I would clearcoat those areas and call it a day!
